Meet Kavan
PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Growing up in Beverly Hills and playing a multitude of sports, Kavan’s education pathway of EP/Physio stemmed from wanting to understand the body, optimize performance, and pursue injury risk reduction. Kavan completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology) in 2017 and Master of Physiotherapy at the start of 2020, both through the University of Sydney.
Whilst completing his master’s degree, Kavan was working as a contracting AEP at a private practice as well as doing home health/mobile servicing, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across a multitude of age ranges and exercise levels. Applying his knowledge base amidst COVID19, Kavan worked as the primary physiotherapist in a regional Tasmanian aged care facility – encountering a plethora of musculoskeletal and neurological patients. In saying this, Kavan has always held a passion for strength and conditioning and sports performance.
Kavan has competed in Division1Men’s Basketball Tournaments and Eastern University Games (Men’s Basketball), as well as Touch Football, Rugby Union, Soccer, and Athletics at a high level during high school. If not playing a sport, Kavan enjoys resistance training through a combination of bodybuilding, powerlifting, and Olympic lifting.
Kavan has cultivated a passion for incorporating manual techniques alongside client-centered exercise prescription into his approach to reduce injury risk and optimize function. His approach to rehab is tailored to understanding pain, normalizing mobility, and progressive overload, as well as improving motor control, stability, and movement mechanics to help prevent injuries.
Kavan is a registered practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA).
Kavan is available at Quay Health Monday through Friday. Call (02) 9252 2825 to make an appointment. Or book online.
