Unlike the conventional approach to medicine, which emphasises the use of pharmaceuticals to mask or manage symptoms, Osteopaths take the time required to establish a clear understanding of why your problem developed in the first place, and put into place a series of steps that will attempt to resolve the underlying problem.
For those looking for an Osteopath near Barangaroo, you will be glad to hear that our Osteopaths are highly trained ‘structural’ Osteopaths that will adapt their treatment approach and their techniques used based on your needs and goals. To access Quay Health from Barangaroo, walk through the Wynyard Tunnel and exit onto George Street via the MetCentre. Turn left onto George, cross Bridge Street then after crossing turn right and walk 50m down Bridge Street. Enter via the glass doors next to the Piccolo Me Cafe, and catch a lift to level 6.
Reception will ask you to complete some paperwork. It’ll take about 5 minutes.
After you meet your Osteopath they will ask you about the history of your problem to establish when and where the symptoms first started and how they may have changed over time, the treatments (if any) you have received to date, and the impact your pain may be having on your life.
After learning of the history of your pain, your Osteopath will carry out a hands-on examination, which comprises of various tests of the spine, nervous system, muscles and joints. Generally, none of these tests are painful, however if you are in acute pain, your Osteopath may ask you to demonstrate what positions and movements reproduce or exacerbate your pain.
After identifying the underlying cause/s (which usually don’t, however occasionally do require referral for an x-ray, C-T scan or MRI), your Osteopath will set some treatment goals, and lay-out a treatment plan – with the ultimate goal being to restore maximal, pain-free movement to your muscles and joints.
While you should allow up to an hour for your first session, return visits are usually 20-30 minutes long and offer treatment & periodic comparative assessments to work towards your goals.
Appointments are typically available between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Bookings are essential.
Allow 30-45 minutes for your first appointment. This will cost $160.
Allow 20-30 minutes for follow-up appointments. These will cost $110.
